Since opening its flagship store in Chinatown in October 2013, Rice Workshop has enjoyed rapid expansion.
Aiming to serve donburi, or rice bowls with various toppings, almost as fast as vending machines do, Rice Workshop wants to keep its food experience “delicious, affordable, fast and friendly,” according to head chef Suzuki.
Hence the Rice Workshop mantra to provide a $20 experience for a $10 meal.
Customers should also wait no longer than 2-3 minutes for their meals.
Recommended is the Ontama Beef Bowl, which has thinly-sliced beef, simmered with onions and a herb and spice soy broth, topped with a soft-boiled egg.
