カジュアル 豪州英語辞典 - [ F ] [ G ]
普通の英語辞典には載っていないオーストラリア独自の
かなりカジュアルな50の言い回し（Australianisms）を取り上げてみました。
これでオージー達の会話の意味がわかるかも。
ただし、使用する相手と場面は気を付けて。
| Fair crack of the whip/Fair shake of the sauce bottle ちょっと待ってよ。平等にしてよ(。直訳:本気で鞭を打たせて。ソースボトルをたっ ぷり流させて) |
| 例：Fair shake of the sauce bottle, mate. I was only there for a minute and you think I stole something? ちょっと待ってよ。少しの間しかいなかった僕が、何かを 盗んだと言いたいの? Too right I do. A minute’ s plenty long enough for the likes of you. そうだよ。お前みたいな奴には充分な時間だろ。 |
| Fair Dinkum / Dinki Di [副] マジ。本気。本当。(直訳:純正、本気) |
| 例：Mate, that engine’ s carked it. 悪いけどエンジンはもう駄目だな。 Fair dinkum? マ ジ で? Yeah, you’ ll need to replace it ‒ too much water in the cylinders. こんなにシリンダーに水が入って、交換が必要だよ。 |
| Furphy [副] うそ。(第一世界大戦当時、戦場の噂は戦場を巡る給水車と共に広まったが、内容 はいい加減なものが多かった。その給水車の手押し車が Furphy 社製だったため) |
| 例：I heard she was going out with the boss. Is that true? 彼女、上司と付き合って ると聞いたけど、本当? That’ s a complete furphy. She’ s single, as far as I know. 絶対うそだよ。私の知っ ている限りでは彼女は独身だよ。 |
| Garbo [名] ごみ収集車。(“Garbologist” の略。Garbologist は Garbage( ゴミ ) から生まれた造語) |
| 例：Hey, have the garbos come round already? もう、ゴミ収集車は回ってきた? I forgot to put my rubbish out last night. 昨夜出すのを忘れちゃったな...。 |
| Gedditintaya 食べて!または、飲んで!(Get it into you の短縮) |
| 例：Mate, gedditintaya ! Beer’ s made from malt, so it has to be good for you, right? 飲みなよ! ビールは麦芽からできているから体にいいに決まってるよ。 |
