キリスト教のアダムの飲み物、水。（直訳：文字通り、アダムのエール）
例：You got enough to drink? 飲み物大丈夫？　Yep. Got my bottle of Adam’s ale right here. うん、水をたくさん持ってきたよ。

オージールールズ・フットボール。（直訳：空中の卓球）
例：Time for a little aerial ping pong ? 　ちょっとフッティーしない？Yeah, why not? うん、いい考えだね。

ちょっと足りない人。（直訳：シックスパックよりビールが何本か足りない）。
例：Hey, have you seen that guy wondering around there muttering to himself? あの人見た？　あちこち歩きながらブツブツ言ってるよ。Yeah, I reckon he might be a few tinnies short of a six pack. ああ、彼ちょっと足りない人かもしれないよ。

ビール。（直訳：こはく色の液）
例：Ah, there’s nothing better than a bit of amber nectar after a hard day’s work.あー、仕事の後のビールは最高だ！

小さい子供。（直訳：足首を噛むもの；足首を噛めるほど背が低いので）
例：I knew him when he was just a little ankle biter. Now look at him. Six foot tall and built like a brick shithouse. 俺はあいつがガキだった頃を知っていたよ。見てごらん、今や180cmでラグビー選手みたいだ。

QLD州の人。（直訳：バナナを曲げる人；QLD州はバナナの名産地なので）
例：It’s the banana benders next week. How do you think it’ll go?　来週はQLD州だぜ。どう思う？　Ah, I reckon we’ll hammer them. 俺達の圧勝だよ。

厳しい状況にもかかわらず、がんばっている人。
例：During his time in power, John Howard always used to talk about how he supported the Aussie battler. In reality, he did exactly the opposite. ジョン・ハワードは首相在任中、常に「オーストラリアのがんばっている人達を支えている」と発言。しかし、真実はその正反対だった。

ビールを飲む時間。
例：Ok, knock-off time. What do you reckon? Beer o’clock ? 仕事が終わったぞ。どう、ビールの時間じゃない？ Hell yeah! ああ、いいよ！

本当にすごい田舎。（直訳：黒い切株の向こうにある）
例：She went hiking recently, beyond the black stump.彼女は最近、すごい田舎へハイキングに出掛けたんだ。

怠け者。（Bludge＝何もしないという言葉の名詞）
例：If there is one thing that is likely to get a working Australian angry, it is raising the thing of bludgers. 仕事をしているオーストラリア人を必ず怒らせたかったら、怠け者の話題を会話に入れるべき。

最高。本当に良い。
（注：少し古い言葉。現在は冗談っぽく“オージー度”をアップさせるために使用）
例： Mate, that’s a bonza bit of beef. このビーフ最高だよ。 Thanks mate.ありがとう。

ビール好き、フッティー好きで、ユートに乗っているような、ちょっと品のない自国愛の強いオージーの総称。
例： Oh my god, he is such a bogan. 彼は本当にボーガンだよね。
I know! He walks around in those horrible trakkie daks all the time and stinks of cigarettes and beer. うん、あんな汚いトラックスーツ・パンツをいつもはいて、おまけにタバコとビール臭いし。

体格の良い人。
（赤レンガで造られた屋外トイレのようにガチッとした体型）
例：Did you see that? He knocked him down with one punch!　あれ見たか。一発であいつを倒したよ。Yeah, what do you expect? He’s build like a brick shithouse.当たり前だろ。あんなにガッシリした体格だもん。

死ぬ。（遺体という意味の「Carcass」から）
例：Who knows when he carked it. He’d been there at least a week, according to the police report. いつ彼が亡くなったのかは誰も知らない。警察によると1週間以上も前とのことだ。

混雑。満席、満車。（“Chock a block”という表現から生まれ、元はぎっしり詰まったという意）
例：I can’t find a parking space anywhere. The place is chokkas. もう満車で、まるで駐車スペースがないよ。

吐く。（直訳：鮮明な色のあくび。逆の飲み込みという表現も）
例：I heard you had a bit of a big one and chundered all over your mate’s carpet last night. 昨日いっぱい飲んで友達の家に吐いちゃったらしいね。
Yeah, I have to pay for the cleanup. Never again. あー、そうだよ。クリーニング代を払わないといけないんだ。二度とあんなに飲まないよ。

少しかわいくてダサイ人。（直訳：羊のお尻りから下がるウンチ）
例：Brian, you’re such a dag. But I love you anyway.
ブライアン、あなたってちょっとダサいけど、かわいいから好きよ。

ちょっと待ってよ。平等にしてよ。 （直訳：本気で鞭を打たせて。ソースボトルをたっぷり流させて）
例：Fair shake of the sauce bottle, mate. I was only there for a minute and you think I stole something?
ちょっと待ってよ。少しの間しかいなかった僕が、何かを盗んだと言いたいの？
Too right I do. A minute’s plenty long enough for the likes of you.
そうだよ。お前みたいな奴には充分な時間だろ。

マジ。本気。本当。（直訳：純正、本気）
例：Mate, that engine’s carked it. 悪いけどエンジンはもう駄目だな。
Fair dinkum? マジで？ Yeah, you’ll need to replace it – too much water in the cylinders.
こんなにシリンダーに水が入って、交換が必要だよ。

うそ。（第一世界大戦当時、戦場の噂は戦場を巡る給水車と共に広まったが、内容はいい加減なものが多かった。その給水車の手押し車がFurphy社製だったため）
例：I heard she was going out with the boss. Is that true?
彼女、上司と付き合ってると聞いたけど、本当？
That’s a complete furphy. She’s single, as far as I know.
絶対うそだよ。私の知っている限りでは彼女は独身だよ。

ごみ収集車。（“Garbologist”の略。GarbologistはGarbage(ゴミ)から生まれた造語）
例：Hey, have the garbos come round already? もう、ゴミ収集車は回ってきた？
I forgot to put my rubbish out last night.昨夜出すのを忘れちゃったな…。

食べて！または、飲んで！（Get it into youの短縮）
例：Mate, gedditintaya ! Beer’s made from malt, so it has to be good for you, right?
飲みなよ！　ビールは麦芽からできているから体にいいに決まってるよ。

元気な子。ご機嫌な（50年代のVegemiteのＣＭから）
例：Oooh, who’s a happy little Vegemite today?
You’re smiling like you’ve just won lotto.
今日はご機嫌だね。宝くじが当たった人みたいな笑顔だ。

川、海、湖に転落する。（直訳：飲み物の中にある、いる）
例：He was walking along the river bank when he slipped and tumbled down into the drink.
川沿いを歩いていたら足が滑って川に転落してしまった。

ちょっと不良で遊び心豊富な人。
例：It is often said that the larrikin spirit of its people is a defining aspect of Australia.
オーストラリア人の少し不良な遊び心は、オーストラリアの定義としてよく言われる。

競馬、または博打をするのが好き。
（Puntは英語では博打、あるいはギャンブルするという意。特に競馬にお金を賭けるという意で使われる）
例：Do you gamble much? 博打はするの？
Oh yeah, I like a bit of a punt every now and then. ああ、たまにね。

牛乳。（直訳：牛のジュース)
例：Can you just run down to the supermarket and get us some moo juice? We’re out.

（直訳：花嫁さんの下着のようにパッと脱げる。日中の日差しに置いてあったバケツの中の魚のように腐った）
例：Right, I’m off like a bride’s nightie. See ya!じゃ、帰るわ！

Good on yaの略。よくやった。がんばれ。
（“おめでとう”という意の表現から生まれつつ、応援言葉として使う）
例：(AFL の試合で) Onya son! Get up there! 行け！　がんばって！

すごい田舎。（直訳：BurkeというNSW州の田舎の町よりもっと田舎にある）
例：God, I have to go up to this town out the back of Burke tomorrow for a sales conference.
あーあ、明日はあんな田舎の町まで営業会議に行かなくちゃならないよ。

キスする。（passionate“情熱のある”略）
例：We were having a quick pash behind the school sheds when the teacher caught us.学校の倉庫の裏でキスしてたら、先生に見つかっちゃった。

Pregnant（妊娠）の略。
例：Hey, I wondered why you started eating all that weird stuff a few weeks back.
最近あなたって、変わったものばかり食べるようになったわね。
Yep, I’m preggers!ええ、妊娠しているの。

出て行って！（注：80・90年代の俗語。現代はあまり使わない）
例：I’m studying for my exam, rack off !　試験勉強中なんだから出て行ってよ！

WA州出身の人、人達。（直訳：砂を手触る、暗中模索；WAは砂漠が多い州だから）
例：Yes, next week it’s east versus west as Swans take on the sandgropers at the SCG.
来週はSCGで西対東、スワンズ対フリーマントルだ。

大学入学テスト（VCE）後に、パーティーのためにQLD州に行く学生達。
（Schooliesはschool＝学校から生まれた、学生達という意だが、Gold Coastに学校で旅行することに最も使われる）
例：Every year, thousands of high school graduates descend on the Gold Coast for schoolies week.
毎年、大勢の高校卒業生が、卒業パーティーをするためにゴールドコーストに押し寄せる。

とても売れている。（直訳：焼きたてのケーキのごとく売られている）
例：Up until a year ago large gas guzzlers were still selling like hotcakes.

Yank、アメリカ人。（Septic Tank＝浄化槽という言葉から生まれた俗語）
例：Bloody septics. All they do is wonder round asking where Rialto Tower is.
I wish they’d just get a map.
アメリカ人ってばさ。皆、迷子になって「リアルト・タワーはどこだ」と聞くんだよ。
さっさと地図を買って欲しいよな。

病気のふりをして仕事を休むこと。ずる休み。Sick dayの短縮。
例：Where were you yesterday? I didn’t see you all day.昨日は見掛けなかったけれど、どうしていたの？
Don’t tell anyone, but I chucked a sickie and went and saw the Grand Prix. 誰にも言わないで。実はズル休みをしてF１を見に行っていたんだよ。

タバコを吸うための休憩。
（Cigarette breakの代わりにオーストラリア人らしくsmoke“タバコを吸う”を元に生まれた）
例：Time for another smoko…またタバコを吸いに行くね。Mate, you really should cut down. A packet a day is not good for you. 少し本数を減らした方がいいよ。１日１箱は体に良くないよ。

女々しい。
例：Don’t get all sooky on me now. I need you to be strong, okay.
女々しくしないで。今こそ強くなって欲しい。

かんかんに怒る。（直訳：チップスを吐く。食べているチップスを口から吐くほど叫んでいる怒り）
例：Was he angry? 彼、怒ってた？
Oh, you should have seen him. He was spitting chips ! 　ああ、カンカンだったよ。

容量が330〜375ml のずんぐりした形のビール瓶。
例：Sharon, could you reach in the fridge and grab me another stubbie ?
シャロン、冷蔵庫からビールを持って来てくれる？

唖然とする。ボーッとする。（直訳：唖然としているボラ）
例：It’s no good standing there looking like a stunned mullet.
Get out there and play ball, son. ボーッとしている場合じゃない。さっさとやりなさい。

トラックスーツ・パンツ。（“Daks”はオーストラリアではパンツという意。この使い方は珍しく、普段は“下着のパンツ”という意味で使う）
例：Oooh, classy. I see you have your trakkie daks on. あら、素敵。トラックスーツ・パンツね。
Well, it's a Sunday morning. What are you going to do? 日曜の朝なんだから、別にいいんじゃない？

朝早くに起きる。（直訳：スズメがおならする時間に起きること）
例：Are you starting work early again tomorrow? 明日また仕事早いの？
Yeah, got to be in at 6.30. Up at bloody sparrow’s fart. ああ、６時半から。朝早いんだよ。

アンダーシャツ。（直訳：妻を殴る人）
例：I’m just going to the gym. Where’s my wife beater ? ちょっとジムに行ってくるよ。アンダーシャツはどこ？
It’s in the second drawer. たんすの2段目よ。

ひどい田舎。距離を想像できないほどの場所。
例：Look, I have no intention of driving out to bloody Woop Woop on my day off just to pick up that fridge from your brother. Go get it yourself if you want a bar fridge that badly.
休日にあなたの弟の冷蔵庫を取りに行くために、あそこまで運転すると思う？　そんなに欲しければ自分で持ってきなさい。

アメ車。（直訳：Yank＝アメリカ人のタンク。アメリカの車はいつも大きいので）
例：I wish he drove something a bit more fuel efficient. Not that bloody yank tank. もう少し燃費のいい車を運転してもいいのに。 I know, but what are you going to do? 　He loves that car.仕方がないでしょう。彼はその車が好きなんだから。

田舎者、品のない人。
例：I wish we could do something about all those yobbos at Bondi beach, wondering around and shouting drunkenly at all hours. もう、いつもボンダイ・ビーチで騒いでいる田舎者達には出て行って欲しいな。

てめー、てめーら。Youの汚い言い方。
（注：Boganしか本気で使わない言葉。非常に下品なので使わない方が無難）
例：What are all youse staring at? 　Haven’t you ever seen a person dressed like this before? おい、てめーら、何を見ているんだ。こんな格好の人間を見たことないのか？
